The 11-member band Hakumba blends afrobeat with jazz and various world music influences. In addition to the five-piece brass section that defines the band’s sound, the numerous vocalists, diverse percussion instruments, keyboards, and guitars make their musical world both powerful and detailed. Danceability and complexity organically come together in their songs. The band has become a permanent fixture of Hungarian festival life in recent years, while their presence is also increasingly active internationally. They have performed at several European showcase festivals, including SXSW London, SHIP and PIN Music Showcase, and toured in Australia.
